First Day in Ireland

We've just come back from dinner, which was great! It's just after 8pm here and everyone is settling in to their rooms for some much needed sleep. Very few of us slept on the plane on the way over, so we've been awake since Saturday morning.

The plane ride over was good and this afternoon we visited a place called Clonmacnoise. It is half way across Ireland going from Dublin to Galway. Beautiful ruins of a 6th century monastery. There are also ruins of Viking stone towers. This site has some of the best stone Celtic crosses in the country, many over thousand years old. It was rainy and cold, but actually was a pleasant change from St. Thomas humidity!

After seeing the ruins we travelled to Galway on the west coast of Ireland. The afternoon has all been about trying to keep ourselves awake so that when we wake up tomorrow we will feel like we are in this time zone.

The hostel we are staying in is call "Snoozles". So I suppose that the best way to finish this email is to say that we are all going to 'snoozle' right now!

Goodnight
